Leeds Avoid Ipswich Farce Penalty

Leeds United have avoided any further punishments as the FA decide the club should not be held to account over the pitch invasion that marred last seasons 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town.

With relegation looking likely for The Whites, a number of Leeds fans entered the playing area before the final whistle, meaning the final few seconds of the match were delayed for 30 minutes. A number of objects were thrown at the away supporters as mindless idiots felt the need to express their anger in what can only be described as a pointless manner.

With the Tractor Boys’ owners seemingly wanting everyone involved with Leeds’ head on a plate, it appears common sense has hit Soho Square, as it did as Celtic avoided Champions League expulsion due to just a small number of mindless “supporters.”

An FA Spokesman said: ‘Clubs and police have their own mechanisms for ensuring law and order is upheld and they have the capacity to use stadium banning orders.

‘We recognised that it was important for the club and police to liaise together to identify those people who have done something wrong and take relevant action.

‘The FA are satisfied that the club and local police have taken appropriate action before and after the incident and we feel that imposing a fine would not be beneficial for any party.’

Unfortunately, Ipswich Town’s chairman David Sheepshanks wasn’t particularly happy with the ruling: ‘I have had some pretty choice words to say to the FA about this. I personally feel it is a weak response,’.

‘I was at Elland Road and was witness to the repeated intimidation and provocation.

‘I have complained to the FA about this decision although I don’t see any chance of our case being reopened.’

Mr Sheepshanks has obviously undergone “anti-Leeds” training during his time as Football League Chairman.
