With the Premier League seeing a return to action in midweek, Leeds United had to wait until Sunday for their return to a Championship pitch as we travelled to Wales to face off against Cardiff City in the noon slot.

Three months of twiddling thumbs was over and with West Bromwich Albion only managing a draw against Birmingham City on Saturday, manager Marcelo Bielsa would see his side open up an instant three point gap should we take all three points today.

But this is Leeds, we don’t do things the easy way do we. The first half was absolutely what we are used to under the Argentine, we dominated possession massively and created some good chances – but only two were on target and with ten minutes remaining in the half, Cardiff scored from their only effort on target (they only had two chances all half).

It was a largely similar story in the second period as well, decent chances, little on target and with 20 remaining in the match, the hosts doubled their lead with the second shot on target.

The first game back was always going to be tricky when it came to match sharpness, but it’s 90 minutes back under the belt and there are positives – just not the result we wanted given the advantage we could’ve given ourselves.
