Leeds United have announced that David Healy is the new club captain following Jonathon Douglas` red card and subsequent collection of his 15th yellow card, meaning a baffling-length suspension

Healy, who has finally started looking like he`s bringing his predatory international shooting boots to Leeds United matches is one of the clubs longest serving players and the Ulsterman told the official website of his pride at becoming the newest Leeds captain.

‘I was very proud when the gaffer asked me if I would become captain,’ said David, who has made over 100 appearances for United.

It is genuinely a real honour to be asked to captain a club like this, have no doubts about that.

We’ve four games left and I’m looking forward to them.’
