Leeds United have agreed a deal to sign Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland.
Butland has agreed to join Leeds on a 93-day loan deal with regular number one Paddy Kenny struggling to be fit for the game at Middlesbrough on Saturday with an ankle injury.
Leeds boss Brian McDermott is delighted with the deal. Speaking to the official website, he said, “We`re delighted to agree a deal to secure the services of Jack until the end of the season.
“Obviously he has high ambitions. He has already been involved in the England squad and I know he is very much looking forward to coming in and being part of the group we have here.”
The 22-year-old made a £4million move to Stoke in January 2013 after impressing during his time with Birmingham City, where he also won his first senior cap for England in the friendly with Italy.
He remained with Birmingham on loan for the remainder of the 2012/13 season before joining Barnsley on loan this season. He made 13 appearances during his time at Oakwell before returning to Stoke in December.
Butland made four appearances for Stoke on his return with regular goalkeeper Asmir Begovic injured but he has found himself on the sidelines again for the last month following the return to full fitness of Begovic.
