A last-gasp thunderbolt from Ian Westlake saw Leeds United snatch a late victory over Oldham to remain unbeaten this season, and moves the Yorkshire club up to 14th in the league.

With both Beckford and Kandol missing through their ridiculous suspensions, manager Dennis Wise gave new loan signings Mark de Vries and Wayne Andrews their debuts, with a welcome return to the side for captain Alan Thompson.

Westlake’s goal, 4 minutes into injury time meant there was a remarkable end to what was somewhat of a dull game. The victory sees Leeds United continue to climb the league in impressive fashion, with the players now finding themselves just 4 points away from a playoff position, and 3 wins behind current league leaders Leyton Orient.

Not a bad start to the season for a team that started the season 15 points behind everyone else.
