“Kid’s Got Ability” – Former Leeds Player Wants 25 y/o To Show More “Hunger”

|

Former Leeds United defender and now pundit Danny Mills has been giving his thoughts on striker Patrick Bamford this week, and whilst praising his natural ability, he did encourage the 25-year-old to really step up his mentality and show a greater ‘hunger’ when in front of the net.

It was a disappointing year in 2018/19 for Leeds as we missed out on promotion to the Premier League and £7million Bamford had a tough first year at the club, with injuries hitting him hard and restricting him to only 18 starts across the year, but he did return ten goals in that time.

With plenty of fans backing him to have a big season for us, especially in light of Kemar Roofe’s departure to Anderlecht and no new signing as a replacement yet through the door, Bamford couldn’t have done much more as he found the back of the net when we opened the 2019/20 campaign with a goal against Bristol City, so maybe he’s already beginning to prove Mills wrong given his words to Football Insider.

“The jury is still out. From time to time you see things that makes you go wow, the kid’s got ability without a shadow of a doubt. I think what has been questioned sometimes is his hunger, his desire and maybe his application. That cold wet night at Stoke, is he prepared to die for the cause? We’ll wait and see. He’s been on the fringes of teams and the fringes of greatness for a long, long time and it hasn’t quite happened. Maybe he’s started to realise this is his last opportunity to make a real name for himself.”

He has the ability, he just has to keep it going now.
