Pontus Jansson has been speaking about the transfer rumours that did the rounds over the summer about him and it’s clear he still has great love for the club.
The Swedish defender has been a fine player for us since arriving but it did seem as though last year he had lost interest.
Certainly, it was a tough season for all involved and over the summer we saw rumours that he might make a move to Russia.
However, he has said that he simply could not leave for Krasnodar in an interview with him saying that his love for the club is too great.
Via Fotbollskanalen he said:
“Krasnodar wanted to replace ‘Gran’ (Andreas Granqvist) with me. It was very close, I thought about it, but I did not feel right. I wanted to finish with Leeds. I had a heavy season with the team last year and I didn’t want to finish the love like that.”
Certainly, it is clear that he has got his motivation back at the moment and he is certainly looking determined.
He is a player of great quality and if he is happy we are because that should be reflected on the pitch.
