Want-away former Leeds United captain Kevin Nicholls has been left in limbo by the sacking of Mike Newell from by Luton Town. KN (Kevin Nicholls) made a request to return to the club that Leeds bought him from recently. Manager Dennis Wise was incensed that a player who has spent most of his Leeds career on the treatment table could have the audacity to make the request at such a difficult time for the club.

Wise commented, ‘I said I was very disappointed with the way I found out. It takes another manager asking me about Kevin Nicholls. And he said he’d like to leave. There was 11 games to go and you expected him to dig in like the rest, get us out of this and not jack it in.

‘It really disappoints me, but this is some of the things we are up against.’

KN clearly trying to force the managers hand, and find a way out of the ongoing battle at Elland Road. The player now finds his target club undergoing managerial changes. The question must be the when the dust settles will the new chief at Kenilworth Road want a player who cowers from battle? With Leeds wanting to re-coup the £700,000 transfer fee paid out for him, Will anybody be interested?

Personally I hope not. We need somebody to collect the footballs after the under 18 squad has trained!
