29-year-old defender Darren Kenton has joined Leeds United from Leicester City on loan until February the 12th.

Kenton has been brought in to provide cover as Rui-Marques jets off to join up with the Angolan squad for the African Nations Cup and assistant boss Dave Bassett was naturally pleased with the signing:

‘He’s deemed surplus to requirements at the moment at Leicester,’ Bassett told Leedsunited.com.

‘He’s a a Rui Marques-type defender and he provides us with important cover at this time.’

Stoke City midfielder Peter Sweeney is expected to be a Leeds United player by this afternoon as he completes his medical at Thorp Arch today after agreeing personal terms over the weekend.
