It looks as though Pontus Jansson is in contention to play against Barnsley this weekend in the Championship.
Last season, this would have been brilliant news for sure with the way the Swede performed but this campaign it’s perhaps not being welcomed as widely.
He’s been off the pace for much of the year – a lot like his team-mates – and many have criticised for him being perhaps not up for the fight.
With this news, then, the reaction has not been as positive as it would have been a while ago:
Pontus Jansson will return to training tomorrow at Thorp Arch and is back in contention for Saturday's clash against Barnsley. #lufc @leesobotYEP βοΈ https://t.co/pGfkcWHSbC

To the fans who slate everyone of them off, do you expect them to give their all? π€ sometimes there are deeper lying issues. With us, itβs been an underlying issue since the drop from the premiership….

The Verdict
Personally, I still think it is good news and I hope that he starts if he is fit enough to do so.
I know he’s not been as strong as he was last year but many of our players haven’t and I’d still say that he’s one of our better stars, despite the criticism.
He’ll be wanting to prove a point, hopefully, and I think he’ll do just that with a solid display tomorrow, though we’ll probably still end up losing…
Thoughts, Whites? Let me know!
