Leeds Word On The Tweet

“Just in time for bottling season” – Many Leeds fans reply to Phil Hay’s post on Twitter

Many Leeds United fans have been replying to a post on Twitter by The Athletic’s Phil Hay, after he shared that Kiko Casilla had been granted extra time to respond to a charge that he made racist comments to Charlton Athletic’s Jonathan Leko.

Casilla strenuously denied racially abusing Leko during our 1-0 defeat to the Addicks in September, when it was claimed that the goalkeeper had “made a reference to race and/or colour and/or ethnic origin”.

The incident was noted in referee John Brooks’ match report, and Casilla was later charged with a breach of FA Rule E3 following an investigation carried out by the Football Association.

Casilla had originally been scheduled to respond to the charge on Tuesday, November 12, but will now have until the 27th after he was granted extra time.

Former Real Madrid ‘keeper Casilla would be set for a minimum six game ban if found guilty, which can be extended depending on any additional factors under rules introduced for the 2019/20 season.

He has started each of our 16 Championship fixtures thus far this season, keeping eight clean sheets – the most in the division by three to Brentford’s David Raya and Swansea City’s Freddie Woodman.

Who starts in goal if Casilla is banned?
