Leeds United are one of several clubs who look set to miss out on the signing of Norwich City striker Teemu Pukki this summer, PA Sport journalist Nick Mashiter has claimed.

With his goals having been a key factor in firing Norwich to the Championship title in the 2018/19 season, Pukki went on to net 11 goals in 36 league appearances in the Premier League last season.

But with that not enough to prevent Norwich from suffering an immediate relegation back to the Championship, Pukki now appears to have been the subject of plenty of interest from the Premier League.

According to Mashiter’s latest update, Leeds, Aston Villa, Wolves, Sheffield United and West Brom were all interested in a move for Pukki during the current transfer window.

Despite that, it looks as though Pukki will not be making a return to the Premier League in the current transfer market, with the Finland international apparently set to stay at Carrow Road beyond the close of this window at least.

As things stand, there are just under two years remaining on Pukki’s current contract with Norwich, securing his future with the Canaries until the end of the 2021/22 season.

Given Pukki’s impressive return for Norwich in the past couple of seasons, the 30-year-old could have been a useful addition for Bielsa’s side this summer, when they did need to get cover for Patrick Bamford upfront.

However, the fact that Pukki did not score in the league after January last season might have been some concern for Leeds, and the recruitment of striker Rodrigo Moreno from Valencia this summer also means that you feel extra cover for Bamford is not quite as much of a priority for Leeds any more.
