Phil Hay has played down the idea that we are looking at John McGinn this summer ahead of a potential move.

The Whites are surely looking to strengthen in many areas this market in order to improve on what ended up being a largely forgettable 2017/18.

Certainly, there’s a number of positions that need bolstering and in central midfield is one of them though it looks as though McGinn will not be part of that.

Indeed, a fan on Twitter asked Hay whether we were looking seriously at the Scottish international and this was the journalist’s response:

The Verdict

I like McGinn from what I have seen of him but I’m not sure we need him more than we do players for other areas of the pitch.

He’d be a nice extra but we shouldn’t go after him ahead of a Kyle Bartley or Abel Hernandez for example.

Adam Forshaw is a better version of him too.
