Phil Hay in the Yorkshire Evening Post is claiming that the Whites are starting to look more seriously at David Stockdale as a goalkeeping option for next year.

We’ve been linked with some big names this summer so far with Angus Gunn certainly one of those after a fine loan spell at Norwich last season.

However, according to the report, as we wait for Manchester City to decide if they want to let him leave on loan in this window, we’re now looking more seriously at Stockdale.

The stopper has been told he can leave Birmingham this summer by Garry Monk but that does not mean he’s a poor ‘keeper – he helped Brighton get promoted not so long ago.

The Verdict

This is certainly exciting stuff from our club.

Personally, I’d like Gunn to come in over Stockdale but, even so, both are massive improvements on the likes of Felix Wiedwald.

And, that said, Bailey Peacock-Farrell could certainly learn from Stockdale if he arrived.
