One of the stranger pieces of business by Leeds United as the summer transfer window came to a close was the loan capture of youngster Izzy Brown from Chelsea.

The 21-year-old arrived at Elland Road with an injury following his spell at Brighton and Hove Albion last season being prematurely brought to an end, and when we signed him it was known he wouldn’t kick a ball in anger in all likelihood ahead of the New Year.

Given how highly rated he is though and his contractual situation at his parent club, bringing him in and letting him settle with a solid show of faith in him could pay off for us further down the line and plenty of fans saw the sense in doing that, even if there was an element of it being a gamble.

Earlier today he made his first return to the pitch in the last ten months as he stepped up his fitness with a runout for our Under 23 side.

A small step yes, but certainly a welcome one as at least he’s firmly on track for coming more into manager Marcelo Bielsa’s thoughts for January.

After that length of time on the sidelines, we will have to be patient with him, but I’m taking it as a piece of good news at least.
