Earlier today it was confirmed that Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa and striker Kemar Roofe had won the respective Sky Bet Championship Manager and Player of the Month awards for August.

Argentine gaffer Bielsa did have a slow start to life at the club over the pre-season period but we put that firmly behind us with a six-game unbeaten run (four wins and two draws) to notch up 14 points to top the table with goal difference giving us the advantage over Middlesbrough at this moment in time.

Roofe has been particularly impressive in the starting lineup and is keeping summer signing Patrick Bamford out of the team with is performances and goal return.

In his matches so far this year in the second tier, he’s scored four times and laid on two assists for his teammates.

Bielsa also won praise amongst the fan base for seemingly not entertaining the PR aspects of the awards as I’m yet to see him posing with the trophy.
