As quoted by Leeds Live, Kalvin Phillips has been speaking about his dream of playing for England and that, of course, it’s an aim for him.

Having seen Derby’s Mason Mount link-up with the senior Three Lions’ side for this set of UEFA Nations League games, the national team seems that bit closer for Championship-based players.

Could Phillips get in, though? He’d probably have a job right now.

He’s a good player that has come on leaps and bounds and we are forgetting he is still in his early 20’s – there’s plenty of time for him to get even better.

As a central midfielder, though, you’ve got to show an extra air of discipline and, at times, Marcelo Bielsa has decided to bring him off in Championship games.

Looking at the England midfield you’ve got established central players like Eric Dier and Jordan Henderson.

I certainly think Phillips could get to Dier’s level at least, too, but perhaps, for now, he’s not ready just yet.

We can let him dream though.
