Hay let supporters know on Friday that among the thousands packing the grandstands were iconic former players such as Jermaine Beckford, Luciano Becchio and Enoch Showunmi.

During his time in West Yorkshire, Beckford managed 84 goals in 147 games, including three League One seasons where he found the net more than 20 times.

The London-born ace, who currently plays in League Two with Bury, also fired us to victory at Old Trafford in 2010, as we went on to reach the FA Cup Fourth Round, and held Tottenham to a replay.

Showunmi is also still playing, albeit with Canvey Island, but the 36-year-old’s very brief stint at Elland Road returned five goals from 24 games.

Becchio, meanwhile, retired at the end of last season, and enjoyed a lengthy career in England with us, and scored 86 times over 219 outings.
