Ipswich Win With A Sucker Punch But Leeds Focus On The Play-Offs – Match Stats

|

Having picked up the draw against Aston Villa following last weekend’s tasty clash, hopes were high that Leeds United would get back to winning ways in the final Championship clash of the 2018/19 season as we made the trip to Portman Road to face already relegated Ipswich Town.

With Patrick Bamford suspended for the game, manager Marcelo Bielsa turned to Kemar Roofe as expected for the tie but with impressive Under 23 showings for Carlos Corberan’s side, fans would’ve been delighted to see youngsters Ryan Edmondson, Jamie Shackleton, Jack Clarke, Robbie Gotts and Mats Bogusz all named on a very youthful looking bench.

It was an entertaining game and we again dominated chances and possession, but Leeds had to battle back from being behind twice and in the 90th minute, despite being reduced to ten men, they nicked the three points to take the win.

Not the perfect preparation for the Play-Offs but we now know we face Derby County in the two legged Semi-Final.
