Reports are popping up that The Tractor Boys may want further punishment for last seasons Elland Road pitch invasion.
It appears that Ipswich Town supporters are a bit uppity over the fact that there was little official punishment for the club, after hundreds of disgruntled Leeds fans ran onto the pitch in the final home game of last season, before the final whistle. With some Leeds “supporters” (read: scum) targeting opposition players and supporters, Yorkshire Police have made inroads to find the culprits, with one suspect already being handed a 5 year football banning order.
Ipswich however feel this isn’t enough, and whispers are suggesting that they are pushing for games to be played behind closed doors, or even further points deductions for the incident, a move that would look to cripple an already handicapped side that is currently defying the odds.
Football supporters shouldn’t have to face intimidation from the clueless idiots that make up the minority of a clubs overall fan base, and whilst the upset (as highlighted by the Evening Star) of a 6-year old girl who was hit in the head by a £2 coin is deplorable, it should be the individuals punished, rather than the majority who are currently enjoying the League One season.
