International Break Is Well Timed For Key Leeds Figure & He’s Confident Of A Quicker Injury Return

|

Plenty of Leeds United fans felt it was a case of Deja Vu when skipper Liam Cooper saw himself substituted with injury in the first half of the Championship clash against West Bromwich Albion back at the beginning of the month, and with the expectation that the 28-year-old would be out for a number of months, it was all too reminiscent of last season where injuries bit our promotion hopes hard.

With Gaetano Berardi replacing him for the Millwall clash and seeing red, despite the card being rescinded without suitable punishment for Tom Bradshaw, the return of Cooper would obviously be a boost for the club and manager Marcelo Bielsa.

With the expected six week lay off for our skipper, during the October international break, he spoke to LUTV and revealed that given how well his recovery had gone so far, he was hoping to shave a couple of weeks off the original timeframe.

“Still on schedule. It’s settling down a little bit quicker than I thought it would, there’s a bit of damage in the tendon which usually takes a bit longer, but I’m progressing well in the gym. I’m really looking forward to getting back outside, it’ll maybe be a couple of weeks yet but hopefully I can keep cracking on in the gym, strengthening around the muscle. Who knows, I could get back a bit earlier but it all depends on the healing process.”

We can only hope that’s true.
