Leeds slim play-off hopes are almost over after suffering their ninth home defeat of the season.

Two goals from Chris Iwelumo secured Watford the win has Leeds inconsistent form, especially at home continues.

Watford went ahead inside six minutes when Iwelumo scored after a mistake by Paul Robinson at the back for Leeds.

Leeds first chance fell to Snodgrass, his shot taking a deflection and going out for a corner.

From the corner, Alex Bruce headed over for Leeds.

Bruce again headed over for Leeds from a Ross McCormack free kick but there was little to cheer in the opening twenty minutes.

Andy Lonergan then made a good save to deny Troy Deeney.

McCormack then fired over but they had yet to test the Watford keeper in the first thirty minutes.

Snodgrass then tested Tomasz Kuszczak in the Watford goal who could only put the ball out for a corner has the first half entered stoppage time.

Deeney tested Lonergan again in the Leeds goal has the game reached half time with Leeds struggling to get going once again at Elland Road.

Neil Warnock was forced into a change at half time with Aidan White being replaced by Danny Webber.

Snodgrass had a great chance to bring Leeds level when Kuszczak saved his soft close range effort after the keeper could only parry a Bruce header.

At the other end, Lonergan saved a Iwelumo header.

Sean Murray then tested Lonergan has the visitors showed no intentions of sitting back on their lead.

Nunez replaced Clayton halfway through the second half and within minutes he had Kuszczak scrambling across his goal has his effort went just wide of the post.

Bruce again went close for Leeds but once again headed over the bar.

Lees then fired over has they tried to find a way back into the game.

Watford should have wrapped the game up when Deeney should have scored when one on one with Lonergan and missing two chances. The ball eventually fell to Iwelumo but the defence got back to stop him having a chance on goal.

Watford clinched the game in the final minute of normal time Iwelumo was on hand to score his second of the game after Lonergan had kept out a Deeney shot.

Leeds poor afternoon was compounded deep into stoppage time when Paul Connolly was shown a red card after his second booking of the afternoon.
