Image: Leeds summer signing shares snap in new kit ahead of key role in Bielsa’s plans

Having missed out on automatic promotion and suffering defeat in the Championship Play-Off Semi-Final, Leeds United hit the Premier League loan market to boost Marcelo Bielsa’s squad this summer.

The Argentine will now be able to call on Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Helder Costa and Brighton & Hove Albion’s Ben White, while the boss has Manchester City’s Jack Harrison in his attack once more following the Stoke-on-Trent-born winger’s return to Elland Road.

But while the trio joined 18-year-old Liam McCarron in signing for the Whites, United have lost Pontus Jansson this summer, who was a key member of Bielsa’s plans during the former Argentina and Chile head coach’s inaugural campaign in West Yorkshire.

The deal to bring White to the club was already in the pipelines before the Sweden international’s sudden departure, but Jansson’s exit no longer seems like it will lead to further defensive reinforcements coming to the Elland Road.

Bielsa is believed to be confident in White’s ability from what he has seen in training and during the 21-year-old’s loan stint in League One with Peterborough last season.

The Seagulls product is therefore in line for a key role in the boss’ plans, and has taken to social media to share a snap of himself wearing the Whites’ 2019/20 home kit after the club held their annual photo-shoot.

Whenever White inevitably makes his competitive United debut in the Championship, it will be his first outing in the second-tier, having only represented clubs in League One, Premier League 2, and in the FA and EFL Cups.
