Leeds United player Kalvin Phillips is certainly enjoying a new lease of life under manager Marcelo Bielsa and the 22-year-old is our only ever-present starter since the Championship campaign began.
Playing a more defensive role as Bielsa looks to him to link defence with midfield, he has been very impressive in the role but of course, he has had a few hiccups and been the one to suffer early substitutions as the manager reacted to the flow of the game and our game plan.
In any event, it’s difficult not to say he’s enjoying the kind of form that makes him one of our stand out players this term and the Academy graduates importance to our set up is clear for all to see.
That has naturally led to some talk of a move to the Premier League as others pay more attention to him, but whilst that speculation remains baseless, it won’t be given a boost by his recent words to the Official Site.
“I’m just looking to try and play as many games as possible and try and help get Leeds back into the Premier League where the club belongs. I love playing for Leeds, it is my city and if I can do that for the rest of my life I would love it. It is just an honour for me to pull on the White shirt every week and play in front of them. I’ve grown up watching and supporting Leeds, so to come and walk out in front of 30,000 really is a dream come true and I hope I can do it for a very long time.”
As you can imagine, his comments went over extremely well amongst the fanbase.
This is why I love @Kalvinphillips down to earth lad, and emits pride and passion every game. More youths like this lad and were golden!
