‘I’d be shocked if we got him’ – Some Leeds fans react as Whites linked with Championship swoop

|

A few Leeds supporters have been reacting on social media, after Football Insider linked the Whites with a swoop on the Championship to sign Brentford shot-stopper Luke Daniels.

The 31-year-old has emerged as a potential target for Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta due to the uncertainty surrounding Kiko Casilla and Bailey Peacock-Farrell’s respective futures at Elland Road, with one of the pair expected to move on from West Yorkshire.

Casilla has seen his future with United cast into doubt inside six-months of signing for the club, after a string of errors proved costly to our promotion efforts. Peacock-Farrell, on the other hand, has shared that he may be forced to look to leave the Whites in the summer if Bielsa cannot assure him that he has a chance of reclaiming the number one jersey.

The Northern Ireland international is keen to challenge his Spanish teammate for honours between the sticks and returned to pre-season training a week before he was due back, but may see the decision taken out of his hands with his contract expiring in twelve months.

Likewise, Daniels’ contract with Brentford is due to expire on June 30, 2020, and the Griffin Park side may decide it is time to part ways with the former England youth international.

Whites chiefs are allegedly looking to the Bolton-born goalkeeper as either our new number one or number two next season, depending on who leaves the club, after he made 12 outings in the recent Championship campaign, mostly following Daniel Bentley sustaining a severe shoulder injury.

News of the Whites’ interest in Daniels, though, has not been received overtly well by some of the Leeds fanbase on Reddit
