As if seeing our chances of securing a top-two finish dwindle into the mist on Monday was not bad enough, we suffered yet another injury when we faced Brentford.

This time, it was Ezgjan Alioski limping off the field in the 12th minute, as the left-back suffered what has now been confirmed as a tear to his meniscus, which will rule the 27-year-old out for the remainder of the season.

Alioski had been one of just two Whites stars to never miss a starting XI in the Championship under Marcelo Bielsa – the other being Mateusz Klich – but our versatile Macedonian ball of energy has been forced to undergo surgery, ruling him out for six to eight weeks.

The boss may now keep his faith in Stuart Dallas when we face Aston Villa on Saturday, as the 28-year-old came off the bench to replace Alioski at Griffin Park, but another call-up for Leif Davis cannot be scrubbed from the cards just yet.

Davis made his senior Whites debut when we last met the Birmingham-based outfit, and faired respectably well at Villa Park, even if we did concede twice.

Some fans have even called for the 19-year-old to get what would be only his second start in the Championship on Saturday when the club shared that Alioski was out for the final weeks of the campaign.

Other Whites supporters also shared their take on Alioski’s injury, and it’s fair to say that not every one of them were sad to see the news…
