Leeds United’s Saturday afternoon clash with improving Queens Park Rangers may have just got a little bit more difficult thanks to the EFL.
One of the Elland Road faithful’s best friend Peter Bankes has now been announced as the man in the middle for the game, and those with short memories will remember him from the Birmingham City tie earlier in the 2018/19 Championship campaign.
With 13 matches under his belt so far this season, he’s already brandished 68 yellow cards and two red cards, so he’s not slow to his pocket
The Birmingham defeat saw six yellows shown, but that day yellow cards wasn’t the issue and we’ve had him once before this year, as we took a comfortable victory over Derby County back in early August. Fans on social media are clearly hoping he had a bad day at the office in the last one.
I really don't like Bankes I'm afraid. Hopefully he'll do something to change that on Saturday…..

That's a lot of yellows!!!! 68 in 13 Championship games! Including 2 of ours which din't have many! Peter Bankes gave 12 yellows in Brentford v Forest in September!!!!! #lufc

He was simply unnecessary v Brum full stop.

He was horrendous against Birmingham. Totally conned by their time wasting antics for the whole of the second half.

Over 5 yellows a game is a very high average! With such a high average of yellow cards I would have expected a higher number of reds than 2.

He was poor in the Brum game. But do were we.

A saving grace of sorts is both games have only seen four yellows shown in our direction and he’s pretty handy at handing out penalties and Lord knows we are due one of them.
