The potential future of Mallik Wilks has long been a topic on the summer transfer rumour mill at Leeds United given his successful spell out with Doncaster Rovers last year.

The 20-year-old talent scored 16 times in 48 starts for the Keepmoat Stadium outfit during his loan spell with them in the season of 2018/19 and it was rumoured that he’d be moving on this summer along with Aapo Halme, but the expectation had been loan deals to bring them on further and of course, Halme had now made a permanent switch to Barnsley.

That has obviously led some fans to wonder if Wilks would be moving on permanently as well and former Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay has named Barnsley or Hull City as potential destinations for him this week.

With plenty hoping that Wilks would have an impact this year, the arrival of Helder Costa would’ve made another loan deal ideal in many ways but there will certainly be those who will be disappointed if he also departs on a permanent basis.

But it’s certainly been a busy week.
