I suppose that’s the kind of impact you were hoping for?
Whilst yes, it was only Guiseley and, yes it is only a pre-season game, it’s still good to get a win under your belt. Imagine the outcry there might have been if they’d have lost the game?
Well thankfully it didn’t come to that last night as Leeds ran out 2-1 victors at Nethermoor Park. Although they were made to work hard for their victory and it took new signing Helder Costa to get them out of trouble.
He scored one fantastic solo effort and provided an assist for the winner, giving fans a glimpse of the kind of stuff that hopefully he’ll be able to replicate in the Championship this season. The victory makes it two wins from two in pre-season, following Wednesday’s convincing victory over York City.
Whilst the new signings took a lot of the plaudits for their performance last night, there were one or two whose focus was on other matters, in particular making sure that their stars from last season stay put for the rest of the summer.
After the outpouring of emotion that surrounded yesterday’s news about Kalvin Phillips’ future, Leeds fans will be hoping that tonight’s game wasn’t his last in a Leeds United shirt.
Alioski was well marked but also had a poor match.
Love ben white darting through almost to the opposite penalty area.
Costa is going to be even better with better quality around him which is exciting.
