Leeds United are sitting pretty at the summit of the Championship but their quest to return to the Premier League has hit rocks in recent weeks, with the Peacocks losing their last three matches across all competitions.

Another stern test lies in wait this evening as Leeds play host to Derby County, with Frank Lampard’s side also chasing a return to the top-flight, and a major piece of team news will lead to concerns at Elland Road ahead of the tie.

The club’s official website has confirmed that influential playmaker Pablo Hernandez is a doubt for the clash on Friday evening due to fitness concerns, having also missed Leeds’ FA Cup defeat at the hands of QPR last weekend.

The Spaniard looks set to join the likes of Patrick Bamford, Izzy Brown, Stuart Dallas, Gaetano Berardi and Barry Douglas on the sidelines – which will certainly test the depth of Marcelo Bielsa’s squad.

33-year-old Hernandez has been an important figure for Bielsa’s side this season, scoring seven goals and contributing 10 assists in 19 league matches.
