It’s time for the PFA Championship Player of the Month award for September, and Leeds United’s form in the second tier sees two players selected for the gong.

Defensive duo Liam Cooper and Pontus Jansson find themselves up against Blackburn Rovers’ Bradley Dack, West Brom’s Dwight Gayle, Brentford’s Neal Maupay and Sheffield Wednesday’s Adam Reach.

Across September, 27-year-old Cooper made four appearances with a return of one goal in the victory over Preston North End. We picked up a possible five points from 12 but our unbeaten run in 2018/19 did come in the game against Birmingham City against former gaffer Garry Monk.

Fellow 27-year-old Jansson featured in the same four games so it’s a difficult call to make really, as each can have a strong argument made for them given their efforts across the matches.

With two nominees from Elland Road, the overall vote is going to be split so unfortunately there’s a high likelihood that neither will win, but that isn’t stopping fans from trying and the early favourite is the Swede with calls to rally behind him to increase his chances.
