Leeds United’s pre-season preparations ahead of the coming 2018/19 Championship campaign continued at the weekend as we travelled to Roots Hall to face League One Southend United.
The hosts took the lead in the game but Luke Ayling scored his second goal of the pre-season campaign to draw us level before the halftime point was reached. Late on, he could’ve completed a brace but saw another effort cleared off the line.
With only two odd weeks to go before we kick off the season for real, plenty in the fanbase have concerns about the first-team squad and the lack of strengthening that Marcelo Bielsa has so far been able to make – and the transfer rumour mill not really suggesting that any deals are likely to come off any time soon.
With results being irrelevant in pre-season, plenty accept that but the performances themselves in games are a far greater concern and continue to play their own part in stifling optimism ahead of the new season.
How about we buy a Striker who can actually score.
Buy a winger who can beat a man and cross into the box.
Buy a CB who can defend.
