Here’s why this shock transfer rumour should be avoided by Leeds

According to the Sun, Leeds United were among the clubs to be taking a closer look at Manchester United’s Scott McTominay in the summer.

The midfielder emerged onto the scene at Old Trafford last year as Jose Mourinho – as he usually does – bemoaned his options at the club despite the cash he has wasted there.

McTominay this season, though, has struggled for football and could be available for a loan.

If we are interested still, though, we shouldn’t go after him.

Whilst he seems a decent player and good enough for our level, he’s not really better than what we’ve got.

He works hard and has good energy in the middle of the park but you’re not telling me that there are not 10 other players better that we could realistically sign?

He’s a water-carrier and, really, the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Adam Forshaw offer something a bit more dynamic.

So yes, he’s a decent player but, for us, I just think there are better options out there.
