Leeds United head coach Paul Heckingbottom felt his side were the better side in the second half after working their socks off to get back into the game.

Reading and Leeds battled out a 2-2 draw at the Madejski Stadium in an open game.

Leeds came from behind to lead at Reading only to concede an own goal shortly after going ahead.

Heckingbottom watched on as Leeds had late chances to win the game but he was to be denied just a second win in his seven games in charge.

‘We worked our socks off to get back into the game and I thought that we were the better team in the second half,” Heckingbottom told the BBC Website.

‘The game started pretty evenly and it was quite an open match. We grew into it after going. In the second half, we wanted to keep the ball more but be very positive with our passing through their midfield to the front four.’

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson gave Reading the lead and only a number of good saves from young goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell kept Leeds in the game as he denied Bodvarsson a second as well as Modou Barrow and George Evans.

Leeds eventually began to get a foothold in the game towards half time with Pablo Hernandez and Caleb Ekuban having efforts off target.

Pontus Jansson drew Leeds level two minutes before the break and having been under the cosh for most of the first half, they almost went in ahead when Ezgjan Alioski saw his effort from a tight angle hit the post.

Leeds went ahead ten minutes into the second half when Hernandez fired home from the edge of the area but their joy was short-lived when Eunan O`Kane turned a low shot from Leonardo Bacuna into his own net.

Alioski and substitute Pierre-Michel Lasogga almost won the game late on for Leeds but they had to settle for a point.
