Leeds United striker David Healy has yet again made himself the hero of Northern Ireland with a brace to see off Sweden.

The 2-1 victory now sees them go to the top of group F, a feat that I’m sure many would never have seen when you consider that this group contains Sweden, Denmark and Spain.

Sweden took the lead in the 27th minute thanks to Johan Elmander, who shrugged off Aston Villa’s Aaron Hughes before putting the ball past Championship goalkeeper Maik Taylor.

It took just 4 minutes for Healy to make his mark on the score line, dipping a shot from 18 yards past Manchester City (reserve) goalkeeper Isaksson.

The Leeds front-man finished the goal scoring off, turning in a Damien Johnson cross with a nice flick on.

Healy has now scored 9 goals in Northern Ireland’s qualifying campaign, and as previously mentioned, this isn’t anywhere near the form he has shown for his current club.
