Leeds United youngster Ryan Edmondson has come in for some significant praise following his recent outing in our Under 23 set up against Hull City.
Carlos Corberan’s charges took a 2-1 victory on Monday and 17-year-old Edmondson opened the scoring on the day, despite appearing to pick up an injury just minutes before his goal.
It was a strong side with Jamal Blackman, Lewis Baker, Jack Harrison and Tyler Roberts all getting a runout but fans will have been delighted to see Barry Douglas get minutes under his tank as he continues to recover from his recent injury.
Edmondson’s goal was aided by fellow youngster Jack Clarke so our next generation are continuing to give manager Marcelo Bielsa additional options should he choose to call on them further in the future and we all know he’s not afraid to stick them on the first-team bench.
I’m not sure what the injury was but hopefully, it won’t be too serious at all, and I’m guessing the substitution was largely precautionary as the player himself demonstrated he was happy to carry on given his efforts for the goal and that was music to these fans ears on social media.
I like the look of Edmondson, but he’s only a modern reboot of “Captain Yorkshire”. David Batty is the iconic original.
