“He Deserves A Go” – Senior Leeds Star Backs “Unfortunate” Youngster To Soon Make His Mark

|

Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw has become a bit of a media darling this week with a number of interviews on a few topics surrounding life at Elland Road, and in a more recent set of quotes he’s spoken about how unfortunate highly rated Academy prospect, Robbie Gotts, can consider himself when it comes to game time in the campaign of 2019/20.

The 19-year-old talent is yet to debut for the club under manager Marcelo Bielsa, but he has been named on the first team bench on a number of occasions, so surely it can only be a matter of time before he gets his bow and fans get the chance to have a closer look at him.

Speaking to TalkingShutt in his recent interview, Forshaw said that the youngster must be ‘breaking records’ with his bench appearances.

“He hasn’t made an appearance so I’ll say, Robbie Gotts. I think he’s breaking the record for the number of appearances on the bench without getting a shirt. In my eyes so unfortunate not to come on or play yet. He’s got so much ability. He deserves a go, such a hard competitor when you train up against him. I think he’ll have a decent career.”

High praise indeed and Gotts certainly has his backers given his performances at Under 23 level for Carlos Corberan, and given Bielsa isn’t afraid to lean on youngsters when needed, I can only imagine that when results more consistently improve, we’ll start seeing a few debuts again.

No doubt some in the media will twist his words into being a bizarre criticism of Bielsa, but I certainly don’t read it that way.
