Looking after the future.
That appeared to be the message that Phil Hay wanted to get across as he talked about the recruitment in the Leeds United academy this season. Whilst I’m certain that the vast majority of us want him to pull a Sir Alex Ferguson or an Arsene Wenger and stay here for twenty years, the fact is given his age and his track record in terms of time spent at clubs, that’s just not going to happen.
And taking to social media, Hay gave his views on the matter, saying that these signings were here to essentially do the work that Bielsa won’t be around to do:
either way, they have to plan beyond him – so you’ve got the academy kids but also some new signings who are 23/24 etc and potentially here for a good while.

Did Leeds have a good window?
Yes
No
So we need to make sure we have an imprint of him for years to come, and that’s what we seem to be doing with the amount of moves that we are making at youth level, as hopefully they’ll be around to carry on that legacy, with his ethos and playing style embedded into the club’s culture.
What about you? Do you think that these moves at academy level are a sign if things to come? And do you think our future is ‘secure’ in that sense for when Bielsa leaves?
