Leeds United Assistant Manager Gus Poyet is pleased with the progression into the Area Quarter Finals of the Johnstone’s Paint trophy following the 1-0 victory at Darlington on Tuesday evening.

A single Paul Huntington goal was enough to seal the win, in a game that saw full debut’s for the former Newcastle United defender, back-up goalkeeper David Lucas and 33 minute cameo from exciting Portuguese midfielder Filipe Da Costa, and Poyet was clearly pleased with all three players’ contribution to the cause:

“There were a couple of players who were excellent – Ben Parker and David Lucas in goal – and that was important for the manager” he told Leedsunited.com

“We had different options on how to approach the game; if you look at someone like Arsenal they play a young team in the cups then change it for the final.”

On new signing Da Costa, who lit up the final period of the game with a number of excellent attacking moves he said: “He will bring something different and I think the fans will like him.”

The draw for the next round will take place live on Sky Sports 1 show Soccer AM, which broadcasts from 0900-1200 on Saturday mornings.
