Few Leeds United fans really knew what to expect from centre-half Ben White when we made the decision to bring the young lad in from Brighton and Hove Albion over the summer on a season long loan deal.

The 21-year-old prospect is highly rated by the Seagulls but he did only boast just over 50 career appearances to his name, following additional spells with Newport County and Peterborough United. He also had big shoes to fill in the shape of Pontus Jansson, but after hitting the ground running and putting in some great performances so far in the 2019/20 campaign, he’s become a new Magic Hat of his own for many.

With eight appearances for manager Marcelo Bielsa so far this season, playing his part in helping us to five wins and four clean sheets, plenty of the Elland Road faithful thought he’d be a shoe in for the first EFL Championship Player of the Month award – but he doesn’t even feature on the shortlist.

Announcing the list on Thursday, well, it left plenty perplexed.
