Elland Road is guaranteed its biggest crowd of the season on Friday with the demand for tickets being so high the upper tier of the East Stand will be open for the first time in 12 months.

Kevin Blackwell quit his post as Neil Warnock’s No 2 at Sheffield United in 2003 to join Leeds under Peter Reid. He says it was the hope of emotional nights like this that made him turn his back on the Blades, who have had success of their own this season.

Blackwell: ‘This is the club I always wanted to come to. People have thrown the question ‘don’t you wish you had stayed at Sheffield United?’ at me since they went up.

‘But I don’t. I am very happy to be at Leeds and it has been a brilliant experience.

‘There is no better place to be for a night match than Elland Road.’
