According to Ger Lynch on his Youtube channel Leeds United-The View, Leeds United are leading the race for Serbian midfielder Saša Lukić.

The 26-year-old, who is also wanted by AS Roma, currently plays for Serie A side Torino but has stated that he would like a move away from the club after the World Cup. The Serbian is on international duty in Qatar and played just over an hour in last night’s 2-0 loss to Brazil. The midfielder, who can play centrally or as a number 10 could be available for a fee of around £13m and Leeds will be hoping a deal can be arranged in the January transfer window.

The Whites will be stepping up their pursuit of a midfielder after the news broke yesterday that Mateusz Klich is set to leave the club in the near future and Lukić looks to be a good replacement. With three goals and 17 assists so far this season, he could really help the transition from midfield to attack as well as providing good cover for the back line in  Jesse Marsch’s side. The player’s valuation is good for a 26-year-old international midfielder and he is just the type of player Leeds will need to hopefully start to climb up the Premier League table.

Ger Lynch said, Saša Lukić, According to ForzaRoma Leeds are in the front running to sign the Torino midfielder, number 10. In the January transfer window, it is said that AS Roma are also linked with the player, but AS Roma may have an issue paying a transfer fee, what it said is that Davide Vagnati the club’s sporting director has made it very clear that any interested parties in Lukić will have to pay £12.9m, which would suggest is not an awful lot for the 26-year-old number 10, who has three goals and 17 assists so far this season, has been described as being in very good form. The issue here for AS Roma which pushes Leeds through is not necessarily his wages, he earns about £600k a year including bonuses currently at Torino, Roma and Leeds are said to be able to double that apparently, but that’s just the actual upfront payments, 12.9 million Roma won’t be in a position to pay that but Leeds maybe.”

Would you take Saša Lukić at Leeds United?

Yes, get him in!

Yes, get him in!

No, don't rate him

No, don't rate him

“There seems to be a lot of financial problems amongst the Spanish and Italian football clubs at the moment so what that means is, Leeds may be able to dig in and get him he has said it, said it before, he has said he wants to leave after World Cup, so, he is away with the Serbian national team at the moment you can check them out, have a good look at Saša Lukić and see what you think, he is in number 10 possibly Leeds are lacking and a potential replacement if it looks like Klich is going to move in the January window.”

Leeds are rumoured to be very active in the winter transfer window and players like Saša Lukić are the calibre of players we should be looking at getting. He is very well experienced playing nearly 150 games in the Serie A and representing his country on 33 occasions. His style of play has been described as a quick, hardworking, versatile player with good vision. Having an ability to aid his team both offensively and defensively, he is usually deployed as an attacking midfielder, due to his vision, passing, technique, and striking ability, as well as his adeptness at making attacking runs.

What do you think, could he be a good signing for the Whites? Let us know in the comments.
