According to Ger Lynch, Liverpool could be eying a move for Leeds United’s attacking midfielder, Brenden Aaronson.

According to the Leeds United-The View Podcast, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp could be ready to make a move for Leeds United’s American international Brenden Aaronson. Klopp is believed to like the player and after watching him play against his side in their 2-1 defeat at Anfield a few weeks ago, that has reiterated his admiration for the 22-year-old. He is a high-pressing, energetic attacking midfielder and certainly ready-made for Klopp’s system.

Leeds have only just signed Aaronson in the summer from Red Bull Salzburg and after an impressive start to life in the Premier League, he has gone to Qatar with the USA national team. Leeds will not want to sell the exciting attacker, but if Aaronson has a good World Cup, it is certainly going to gain him attention from clubs around Europe and beyond, but one would feel it would take a seriously large offer for the Whites to take notice. With an American takeover from the 49’ers on the horizon, it would be sensible to say that they would prefer to keep the American poster boy at Elland Road.

Could you see Leeds cashing in on Aaronson?

Ger Lynch said, “Liverpool could be eyeing a move for Brenden Aaronson, according to the USA manager Jim Curtin. Jim said that if you watch Aaronson play against Liverpool, you could tell by Jurgen Klopp’s body language that he liked him every time that Brenden did something, he said, “Look, I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s interest in him.” Brenden Aaronson is a Liverpool fan, or was a Liverpool fan, he did talk about it was a dream come true to play at Anfield, so the interest is there but Jim Curtin, said, “don’t be shocked if Liverpool do make a move.”

“Jurgen Klopp is under big pressure, and we said it during the week, talking of players Liverpool are linked with, you’re looking at do FSG make money available during this window because, you know, they’re selling the club, so what are they going to do? Are they gonna give him more money into the team? Are they gonna let it go? Aaronson is a player that would suit their style of play, Jurgen Klopp likes those attacking players and you could see him very easy fitting into that front three that Liverpool plays, coming in from the right. The signings of Nunez that haven’t just settled in yet, so it’s gonna be an interesting one to see.”

“I hope that they don’t make a move for Aronson but there’s never smoke without fire, so yeah, it’s an interesting one. We’ll have to see what happens there. We’ll keep an eye over the next couple of weeks but you’d be shocked at Brenden Aronson doesn’t have a decent world cup then he comes back without interest from a lot of clubs. Leeds have this Leicester model which we’ve already discussed isn’t working for Leicester anymore. Is the next big player to leave Leeds one of the players Leeds just brought in? It’s going to be an interesting one, I would be shocked if we sell him straight away. I would hope we get a couple of years out of Brenden before we move him, and hopefully, we can move the table ourselves with the 49’ers coming in, and also the 49’ers looking at buying Leeds, they’re going to want the marquee USA players. I don’t think they’re going to want to let players just leave before they get their hands on the full team, so we’ll have to wait and see.”

Leeds have four players at the World Cup with Aaronson and fellow American Tyler Adams, as well as Rasmus Kristensen on international duty for Denmark, and Dan James who is on a season-long loan to Fulham in the Wales squad. Big tournaments like these are always a way for players to put themselves in the shop window and try to earn a move to another club, but we would like to think our players are happy at Elland Road, and we would be looking to build a team around them. With rumours starting to heat up around the 49’ers and big investment in January, it will certainly be a fascinating few months for the Whites and very exciting to see how it all unfolds.
