Former Leeds man is adamant as he calls for change at Elland Road – Report

|

At least I’m not alone on this one.

With Leeds having dropped points at home for the third time this season, and the second in the space of two home games, it looks as if there are a few murmurs of discontent starting to grow amongst those with a vested interest. And there is one man in particular who is coming in for a bit of criticism from former Leeds United man Noel Whelan.

Speaking to Football Insider, Whelan said:

“It’s time for [Jack] Harrison to be dropped. He’s been poor for quite a few games now, there’s no getting away from that. He gets in great positions and contributes to the build-up play but his final ball is not good enough, sometimes it’s horrific. He doesn’t score enough and doesn’t create enough. When you’ve got a player like Helder Costa you need to get him in the team. He has far more to offer and it’s a no brainer to get him in ahead of Harrison.”

I did say last week that I thought it was time for Helder Costa to start getting some more game time, and if I had to pick someone to take out for him to get into the team, it was going to be Jack Harrison. We have seen what Costa is able to produce at this level based on his time at Wolves, so for him to be simply rotting on the bench is just baffling.

Whilst Harrison was fantastic for us last season, he just hasn’t quite been able to resurrect that form and bring it into this campaign, which is worrying because you’d think after a year in Marcelo Bielsa’s system, he’d be more comfortable in it, hit the ground running and be producing more goals and assists than what we’ve got out of him this so far. Apart from a goal on the opening day of the season against Bristol City, he just hasn’t been able to do that.

What about you? Do you think that Harrison’s place in the team is hanging by a thread? Or do you think that he deserves a bit more time in order to set things right?
