Former Bielsa colleague issues baffling criticism

Leeds remain top of the league despite the poor showing at the weekend and we’re surely looking forward to seeing the Whites trying to bounce back against Sheffield Wednesday.

A Yorkshire derby is one of the best ways to shake off a loss – as long as we win – and that will be the aim of Marcelo Bielsa who has shone so far for us.

He does have some detractors, though, with his former colleague, Lille owner Gerard Lopez, issuing a rather strange criticism of him.

Known for developing young players into top stars, Bielsa wanted to do the same for the French club but Lopez clearly wasn’t happy with that.

Via Telefoot, he said:

“He took a big risk.

“There was clearly not enough experience in the squad.

“The coach took a big risk with young players, but it was under my responsibility. Now with players like José Fonte, that makes a difference. Do I regret it (sacking Bielsa)? Not at all.”

Clearly, he should have done more research into Bielsa before bringing him in as that is what the Argentine is famed for.

We’ve got him now, though, so I’m glad it didn’t work out there in many ways.
