Former Leeds United loan midfielder Sanchez Watt was shown a red card in bizarre circumstances on Tuesday evening.

Watt, who had two loan spells with Leeds from Arsenal between 2010 and 2011, is now playing for non-league side Hemel Hempstead.

The 27-year-old was called over by the referee to be cautioned during the second half of their home game against East Thurrock in their Conference South Division clash after questioning a goal kick.

After a lengthy discussion between Watt and referee Dean Hulme, Watt was surprisingly shown a red card for what looked like dissent.

Hemel Hempstead captain Jordan Parkes then had his own lengthy discussion with the official who eventually showed Watt a yellow card.

The referee believed in the initial exchange with Sanchez Watt that the former Arsenal and Leeds midfielder was showing dissent by just saying ‘What` every time he was asked for his name and not realising his name was Watt.

Watt had the last laugh as he scored in the 2-0 home win for Hemel Hempstead.

I am sure we will be seeing the referee at Elland Road soon!
