Many Leeds United were left disappointed over the news that midfielder Kalvin Phillips will miss the rest of the season due to an injury.
The 24-year-old picked up a knee injury during the Whites’ 1-0 win against Swansea City on Sunday, which the club announced that he will face a five-week stay on the sidelines.
Phillips himself posted on his official Twitter account how disappointed he was to be absent for the rest of Leeds’ potentially historic campaign, as a victory against Barnsley on Thursday will secure their return to the Premier League for the first time in 16 years.
Who should replace Kalvin Phillips in midfield?
Stuart Dallas
Ben White
Jamie Shackleton
This season, Phillips has been key in helping Leeds get to where they are, with two goals and two assists in 37 starts for the Whites (as per Whoscored), including a stunning free-kick against Blackburn Rovers a few weeks ago.
With this in mind, supporters were left desolated by the news and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that he “felt like crying” after seeing Phillips’ post, while another stated that he was left “devastated”.
Devastated for you. Keep your chin up. We cannot have asked any more from you. Look after yourself and we know, you’ll do all you can to get the boys over the line.

Gutted for him. Local lad, player of the season, so important for us. Another reason to just do it.

Gutted to learn Kalvin will be missing for the three games. Fingers crossed we can do this.

The lad has gone above and beyond for us. He battled on in the second half, even though he’d obviously taken a whack. Leeds United through & through. He’ll be first on Coops shoulders if we….#MOT
