Lots of Leeds United fans have been reacting on social media after the Yorkshire Evening Posts’ Joe Urquhart shared a tweet focusing on Middlesbrough’s recent form in the Championship.

United travel to the Riverside Stadium on Wednesday night to face Boro, with boss Marcelo Bielsa looking to do a double over the North East outfit following November’s 4-0 rout at Elland Road.

Bielsa drew both games with Middlesbrough during his debut campaign at the helm, while our last victory at the Riverside Stadium came in February 2015 when a sole Alex Mowatt strike decided the match.

Changing our recent record in the North East this weekend would be vastly beneficial to our promotion hopes, as two wins in a row have seen the club move five points clear of Fulham and the Play-Off places.

Beating Boro and West Brom dropping points at home to Play-Off hopefuls Preston North End could also see our deficit to the Baggies reduce from four points.

Form would suggest we have a great chance of beating Boro on Wednesday night, as Urquhart has pointed out that Jonathan Woodgate’s side have failed to win any of their last eight league games while defeats at Barnsley and Luton Town have dragged the Riverside natives into the relegation fight.

What will the result be vs Middlesbrough?

Woodgate will be keen to snap his side’s winless streak against us, and that certainly goes for Boro centre-back Ryan Shotton.

“I am really excited for Wednesday because there is no better game to bounce back in,” Shotton told Teesside Live.

“We know it will be tough, but we will be right up for it and we will be aiming to win, to do that and then to beat [Nottingham] Forest as well.”

Here are some of the messages shared as fans noted Boro’s recent struggles heading into our trip to the Riverside Stadium…

In other Leeds United news, an Elland Road exodus is expected if Bielsa walks out on the club this summer.
