Many Leeds United fans have flocked to social media, after Illan Meslier reacted to the club beating Fulham 2-0 in a simulated version of our postponed Championship clash.
Marcelo Bielsa was due to welcome Scott Parker and his Cottagers to Elland Road on Wednesday night for what would have been a pivotal battle in this year’s promotion fight, but the game is on hold due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
With no real football taking place, the club’s social media team sought to stay connected with the fanbase by simulating the match through EA Sports’ FIFA 20. And like Bielsa so often does, the club kept with an unchanged line-up from the one that beat Cardiff City 3-1 on Sunday in another virtual showdown.
Why change a winning method when it works, and the decision paid off as the virtual Leeds United took the lead in the fifth-minute through Pablo Hernandez, before Jack Harrison secured the result in the second half.
Meslier, the real one, took note of the action, and reacted to the club’s post by celebrating another clean sheet, after the 20-year-old talent kept two in two against Hull City and Huddersfield Town before the season was postponed.
