Leeds faltering play off hopes continue as they were held to a 2-2 home draw by Watford.

A game between two sides with the best home and away goalscoring records in the division took a long time to get going with all four goals coming inside the final twenty minutes.

In a first half with few chances Danny Graham had the visitors best chance early on when he fired under Kasper Schmeichel but the keeper got back to save at the second attempt.

Max Gradel had Leeds best chance close to half time when he somehow managed to hit the crossbar from three yards with the goal at his mercy.

Dan Cowie came closest to opening the scoring for the visitors in the opening twenty minutes of the second half when his effort came back off the upright.

The game sprung to life with the introduction of Luciano Becchio for Leeds.

The Argentinian forward rose highest to power a header past Scott Loach with just eighteen minutes remaining.

Becchio then missed a great chance to put the game beyond doubt when he fired over the bar from six yards with just the keeper to beat.

Leeds inability to defend a lead was quickly exposed when Lee Hodson ghosted in at the back post to head past Schmeichel.

Max Gradel then had a chance to restore Leeds lead when his effort from close range was somehow kept out.

It was soon worse for Leeds when Graham set up Andreas Weimann to tap in to give the visitors the lead with just four minutes remaining.

Leeds were soon level when Troy Deeney blasted the ball past his own keeper from a Barry Bannan corner.

Despite the referee, adding five minutes of added time Leeds couldn`t find a winner.

The draw moves Leeds two points clear of their nearest rivals in the hunt for the final play off place, but with the Leeds performances continuing to falter, it is only a matter of time before somebody moves ahead of them.

Leeds now face a tricky clash on Good Friday at Elland Road against the Championships inform side Reading.

Reading look a good bet for automatic promotion at the moment after winning eight games in a row to move into third place in the table.
